Meet Dr. Rachel Vaughn
Dr. Rachel Vaughn is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and received her doctorate from Adler University. She has worked with adolescents, young adults, and adults across several different settings, including community health centers, high schools, transitional living facilities supporting homeless individuals, as well as a program supporting women as they transition out of incarceration back into the community. Her dissertation focused on the complex cycle of interpersonal violence and homelessness in the lives of women. Dr. Vaughn utilizes an integrative approach with clients, with a firm foundation in psychodynamic theory. She believes that our past informs our present experience, and that gaining insight into our behaviors, combined with utilizing more concrete therapeutic tools to minimize any current distress, can help lead to a state of wellness and healing. She is trained in the utilization of cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness and the Gottman Method.
Additionally, Dr. Vaughn believes that the therapeutic alliance is the central component of successful therapy, and utilizes an authentic, collaborative, and relational approach. She believes that each client has a unique story and set of needs, and that therapy works best when it is tailored to meet and honor those needs. Working within a multicultural framework, including incorporating clients’ intersecting identities and lived experiences into therapy, is central to her work. “Seeking therapy can sometimes feel daunting. My goal is to help guide and support you though whatever life stressors you may be experiencing in an open, caring, non-judgmental environment. I believe that trust is earned and not automatically given, and I work hard to earn the trust of my clients over time as we develop our alliance. I hope to work as a team as we explore whatever may be troubling you, whether it be a current stressor, or something from your past that continues to cause distress. Overall, I want to help you achieve a state of well-being that allows you to live to your full potential.”
